Exodoxa

I consult for a small number of select clients through my company, Exodoxa (which means Outside of Common Wisdom) - I couldn’t resist a nerdy name. Together with my team of experienced freelancers (when they’re needed!) we make content that is engaging, unusual, fun, and built on research. We specialise in what the professional world calls Content Strategy, Learning Design, User Experience Design, Product Design, Research and Development, and of course content creation - usually in the fields of psychology, emotional intelligence, and public-facing popularisation of ideas.

Right now I am mostly at capacity, but I am still open to hearing from interesting projects and people about what they are up to and where I might be able to help.

Wonderbly

I worked with Wonderbly mainly as a producer, guiding an interdisciplinary team through the process of the envisioning, researching, designing, and writing Wonderbly’s new Friendship Book series. With this fully customisable photobook filled with memories, poems, and essays on friendship, I designed and delivered Wonderbly’s most complex product to date.

Throughout this project I’ve deployed a whole range of skills including in-depth market research, strategic planning, and a healthy dollop of humour to produce a product I’m truly proud of. In fact the real test is that I’m giving it to my loved ones!

Dr Daniel Gouly

Example Partners/Clients

Team

As founder I lead on our work with different clients to deliver projects centred around political and social change, learning design, wellness, and content development. The work I do is especially focused around my expertise in learning design and accessibility, and I’m always keen to work with new clients on values-driven projects.

I draw from my varied professional experience as Head of Content at the School of Life, Co-Founder at Honeyslate, my academic work as researcher at Oxford University, to design inclusive products to reach diverse markets. For us it’s really important to practice what we preach!

When we work on larger projects, I work alongside a team that includes Dr Daniel Gouly and Tom Duggins - learn more about them below.

Tom Duggins

Content Writer and Researcher

Tom Duggins is a writer and editor who has appeared in the likes of British GQ, The Guardian, Vice UK, iD, The Quietus and Kerrang! magazine. After completing his degree in English Literature at the University of Cambridge, Tom worked for many years as an in-house writer and researcher at The School of Life while pursuing numerous other ghost writing and editorial projects.

An experienced content writer, journalist and researcher, with a passion for in-depth analysis and critical evaluation, his work takes a special interest in the influence of psychology and philosophy on the arts and everyday life. He has written on topics as varied as the sadomasochism of football fandom and the burgeoning energy bill boycott that greeted the disastrous mini-Budget of the Truss administration.

Ahead App

Since 2022 I’ve been working as the Head of Content for the Ahead App, a pocket coach for emotional intelligence. I research and select the right emotional intelligence techniques for the Ahead app. I then help develop its structure, content, and tone of voice, as well as working with and sometimes managing other writers on the team. I'm enjoying the challenge of creating a coach in your pocket that helps you the moment you need it. It's something that can be useful every day in helping people be calmer, more confident, more productive, and less depressed and anxious!
